The latest from Jenni Dobbin – Director of Field Operations

Jenni DI just wanted to bring you up to date on Department of Education and Training (DET) arrangements for National School Chaplaincy Program (NSCP) grant funding for 2016-2018. On or before December 1st, 2015, DET will inform schools of their success (or not) in this current funding round.

Once a school has been notified successful, they will need to send us a Purchase Order for the number of hours of chaplaincy service required for 2016 and we will confirm contracts with our chaplains. SU QLD will then invoice each school in the new year for term 1 grant funding.

For schools that are unsuccessful in obtaining the grant funds we will be in touch with LCC chairs and principals re the effect this has on their finances and viability going forward. Our goal is that our chaplains would finish the school year knowing exactly what their employment status is for 2016. We are asking chaplains and schools to send an email to support@suqld.org.au as soon as they have verification of their grant funding. This will allow us to inform chaplains of their days of employment for the New Year.

On the resources section this month, we have provided an editable brochure to help with promotion of your chaplaincy service. These were previously only available at cost by bulk order, so this new document allows all LCCs to update their brochures, print any quantity and contact their community of supporters to help raise funds for the 2016 year. New printable posters are also available via our Fundraising Resources section. Our LCC Forums this term have been well attended and the topic of renewing our LCCs and their finances has been helpful to many. We now have sample LCC minutes templates and LCC agenda templates under the Promoting Your LCC tab. As well there is an editable ‘LCC recruiting’ doc, which may help you, and a ‘Join your LCC’ flyer. All these resources are to help you find that extra valuable pair of hands to assist you in your important work of strengthening and sustaining your chaplaincy service.

Thanks for your work in 2015. We look forward to partnering with you into the future!
