From the CEO – Term 4, 2023

It’s nearly the end of another school year and I wanted to thank you for your support over 2023.

This year has seen some big things for SU Australia as a movement, and for chaplaincy, including:

  • the Department of Education’s Dandolopartners report that was released in Term 1 (which once again highlighted the vital role chaplains play in our schools),
  • celebrating our first National Chaplaincy Week in May, and
  • our first national SU Australia Staff Conference for chaplains, staff, field workers and SRE teachers in July.

In addition to these events, there have been chaplaincy vacancies filled in hundreds of schools, thousands of programs and breakfast clubs held and countless life-affirming conversations.

2023 has seen significant changes in management and team structure for SU. Through it all the mission has remained the same – supporting and helping Australia’s children, young people and families discover life.

While I myself will be departing from the role of CEO of SU Australia, I’d love to again say how grateful and proud I am to have been a part of this movement. Together we have built something quite phenomenal and I believe the work we are doing today will truly leave a lasting legacy on future generations.

Thank you for all you give to make this work possible. It’s been a pleasure working alongside you!

Many blessings on you all as we close out this school year strong.

Peter James
