From the CEO – Term 3, 2023

It’s hard to believe we’re in Term 3, already! This year has flown by, but we remain incredibly grateful for you and your continued support for the work of SU Australia and our chaplains.

We recently returned from our very first National SU Australia Conference, and it was quite surreal to have 850 staff, field workers, chaplains, SRE Teachers and volunteers gathered together in one room. Seeing the volume of people who are involved in making this work possible all across the country was a humbling and inspiring experience. We hope your chaplains have returned to their schools invigorated and refreshed for what this term will hold!

You may have heard the news that I will be finishing up my role as Chief Executive Officer at the end of this year. It’s been a big journey, and one that I feel priviledged to have been a part of. SU has grown and changed in many ways over recent years, and I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to build together. It’s not been easy at times, but we’ve grown together, and we’ve been crafting something new that will serve our childen, young people and families and make a lasting legacy on generations still to come. Thank you for the part you play in making this life-transforming work happen. It really wouldn’t be possible without you.

Our Board of Directors will soon begin the search process to identify the next person who will carry the torch as CEO.  I look forward to continuing supporting this incredible movement in a different capacity. We will keep you updated as that process unfolds.

Thank you again for your unwavering work in our schools, and the support you show to our chaplains. It’s very reassuring to know our frontline workers are kept in such capable and committed hands.

Blessings on you for the rest of this term,

Peter James
