From the CEO – Term 1, 2023

It’s great to be back for another year! I am very much looking forward to partnering with you as we look to positively impact our school communities across Queensland, and indeed our nation, through our brilliant school chaplains and the support networks that make their work possible.

As you may be aware, the Department of Education’s release of the Dandolopartners report was a great way to kick-start the year, and I encourage you to read through this when you get a chance.

This report is yet another ringing endorsement of all you do in your role to support the work of school chaplaincy in our school communities. Thank you also to those who submitted their feedback as part of this research, providing your firsthand experience of chaplaincy in the schoolyard, and in the community.

As we know, chaplaincy is not just about the individual who fills the post of chaplain. It’s also about the community of support behind each chaplain. From our awesome Local Chaplaincy Committees, our community fundraisers, church and local business partners, and of course the schools themselves from the principals to the teachers and teacher-aides, to the other wellbeing staff in the schools, you all are a vital part of this village of support for our young people.

This simply doesn’t work without you all. So thank you for putting your hand up and doing what you do to make our school communities a safer, more caring, and inclusive place for all. Your partnership means so much! I look forward with great anticipation for all this new year will bring.

Wishing you a blessed and wonderful term ahead.
