From the CEO

What a year we’ve had to date!

From the Federal Government’s chaplaincy seed funding renewal and the release of Kantar’s independent review into the chaplaincy program, to Chappy Week celebrations, media attention and more, this has been an eventful year so far.

Going forward, there’s no signs of slowing down.  In the coming weeks, your chaplains will join together with their colleagues from across Queensland for our annual SU QLD staff conference.

I’m sure your chaplains are looking forward to a great time of networking and professional development as they take time out of their busy schedules to catch their breath and upskill for the benefit of their school communities.

At this year’s conference, we’re offering a wide range of new and exciting workshops, including supporting students and communities in the aftermath of disasters, helping children with anxiety, promoting positive outcomes for Indigenous youth, and working with foster care students and families.

The wonderful news regarding chaplaincy funding, which I shared with you back in May, means the new chaplaincy contracts will need to be signed before the end of this year.

I want to thank you in advance for your help and support in ensuring your chaplain’s service continues into 2019.  As Jenni mentioned in her update, you can expect to hear more on this soon.

Thank you once again for all you do and I look forward to continuing to work with you throughout the second half of the year.

Best wishes

Peter James, CEO SU QLD
