From the CEO

It would be an understatement to say that this year is flying by. But what an exciting (and challenging) year it’s been.

On that note, let me express my gratitude to our wonderful LCC volunteers for your tireless efforts to ensure that schools are able to retain their chaplaincy services.

As I’ve said before, school chaplaincy does not work without you. This is yet further testament to that fact.

Looking ahead, I want you to know that SU QLD is working hard to equip you with tools to help you fundraise. Many school chaplains are already using the “Champion Your Chappy” fundraising tool, to put funds directly into your LCC account. That’s great. Please encourage those chaplains who are yet to use it to do so.

Lastly, I want to thank you for volunteering your time to support your local chaplains. You truly are making a difference.

You may have seen in the news recently that Australian businessman and philanthropist Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest donated $400 million to charity. When asked on The Project if he believed Australians had an obligation to philanthropy he responded with the following words…

“I really just appeal to every Australian to give what you can. If that’s time, then be assured that it’s an equally important contribution. I think if we as Australians really support each other, we’re going to be a stronger country.”

Your time is indeed invaluable. Thank you for helping to make our communities stronger.

Kind regards,

Peter James, CEO SU QLD
