Reengaging your lapsed donors in 2018!

Fundraising is not a response to a crisis, it is an opportunity to invite other like-minded individuals to join our mission.

As you know, it requires a lot of hard work – and your hard work is paying off because LCC donations are increasing!

As an LCC treasurer myself, I know firsthand the passion you have as an LCC volunteer, and the pressures as well. Like you, I do this because I am passionate about seeing children and young people supported and connected in community, experiencing fullness of life. It’s what drives me to join my fellow LCC members to support our Chappy – which includes fundraising.

Many of our new supporters come on board through events like fundraising dinners. These events are opportunities to connect members of the community to our vision and invite them to make a difference with a tax deductible donation. For those that are moved to give, great – the hard work is done. We have a new donor!

However, if there is no repeat gift after twelve months, that generous supporter is now considered ‘lapsing’. This means they are at risk of having no further engagement with your chaplaincy service.

If after two year’s there is no second gift the supporter is considered ‘lapsed’ and no longer engaged with your chaplaincy service.

As you can see in the above pie graph, 57% of our LCC supporters across Queensland are either lapsed or lapsing. It is amazing how hard we work to get funds coming in, and yet we are losing and bleeding a large percentage of our donor base each year.

If only we could keep these donors engaged for longer…

The Good News is we are investing in a new database, which will be operational in 2018. For the first time this will allow us to help you keep your donors engaged.  We will be able to send email appeals to your lapsed donors (no gift in 2 years) and ensure that their donation goes back to your local chaplaincy service.

There will be no cost to you as it will all be done digitally. It is just one way SU QLD can help you with all the hard work you are currently doing to maintain your existing donors and raise vital funds to support your local chaplaincy. Of course we will give you an option to opt out, and details will come next year on how to do that after the system is developed.

Look out for more information coming out early in 2018, we look forward to partnering with you and serving you better in 2018.
