From the CEO – Term 4, 2019

In less than two months times we will ring in the end of yet another school year. I know many of you have had your fair share of challenges in 2019, but there’s been some great breakthroughs and wins too.

It’s all too easy to get caught up in the busyness of life, and thinking of all we still need to do (and with so little time) – while forgetting all we’ve already achieved. I want to encourage you in the fact that school chaplaincy is strong in Queensland schools. And that’s because of you.

Hundreds of thousands of Queensland students are going to school today, safe in the knowledge that their chappy will be there for them in their time of need. That’s not something that happens without a lot of effort behind the scenes.

It’s an encouraging time to see many people actively getting involved with support of chaplaincy, in particular seeing the results of Team Chappy’s Bridge to Brisbane fundraiser which raised a massive $54,902. If this is something you’d like to be a part of, we would love to have you on board in 2020!

Before November 15th, the Department of Education has asked all Queensland schools to apply for chaplaincy funding for 2020-2022. Please remember that you must all apply for this funding round if you wish to receive NSCP funding going forward. It is such a privilege to serve schools, and SU Chaplaincy looks forward to continuing to offer chaplaincy in your school community.

Thank you again for everything you do to support and grow your chaplaincy service. Rest assured it is making a difference.

Peter James.
