From the CEO

It’s hard to believe that we’re now in the last school term of the year, and another eventful year is almost ready to hang up its hat!

I want to highlight this edition’s contributor to Things I Wish I Knew, Rebecca Allen-Ankins.  Rebecca moved from Brisbane to Clermont in western Central Queensland earlier this year and very quickly took the reins as the LCC Chair for that region.  And not long into this role, the Clermont and Capella LCCs revived a horse riding fundraiser, that attracted more than 50 riders and raised about $7000, which will be shared between the two LCCs.

Rebecca was able to raise the profile of this event and more funds than expected by using the SU QLD Media and Communications team to get the support of Central Queensland media outlets behind the event.  Rebecca was interviewed on several local radio stations and appeared in newspapers and online.

If you have an interesting or usual fundraiser coming up, I invite and urge you to fully utilise our amazing media and communications team.  They are here for you.

I want to sincerely thank all of you for the amazing work you have done this year for your school chaplains.  Without you, their jobs would be so much harder and they would have a lot less precious contact time with the children and young people they support.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I pray you have a successful Term 4 and you are able to relax and celebrate the Christmas season with your family and loved ones.  I look forward to seeing you again in the New Year.

Best wishes
Peter James, SU QLD CEO
