From the CEO

Peter James

I hope you are all enjoying a great start to Term 2!

Every school term is important – of course. But this term does take on some extra special significance.

In the coming weeks we will learn whether Federal funding for school chaplaincy will continue beyond 2018. I am confident of a positive outcome – and that confidence comes from the great work you are doing behind the scenes to support your chaplain as they support your school community.

You are the village of support that makes this all happen.

Once the announcement is made on May 8 I will be in touch to share with you – what I expect – will be good news about funding beyond 2018.

Throughout the year we will continue to keep you updated on what the Federal Government’s decision will mean for your chaplaincy service. For now, I want to once again thank you for all your tireless work in supporting your chaplains and raising awareness of the great work they’re doing.

Chappy Week will soon be upon us. I can’t wait to see and hear of all the amazing things you’re planning to celebrate and support your wonderful school chaplains.

I am so grateful for the village of support you provide. And that’s ultimately what chaplaincy is all about. It’s about community and connecting children, young people and their families to a community of support – a community that cares deeply for the welfare and hope of our young people.

Thank you and keep up the great work.

Peter James,

CEO SU QLD.
