2019 conference reflections and cyber-bullying training

What a pleasure and privilege it was to spend a week with your amazing chaplains over the school break.

This year’s staff conference was an incredible time of professional development, inspiration and refreshment for your chaplains, which I’m sure they will carry with them into the second half of the year.

In addition to receiving top quality training in supporting children and families across a range of special needs categories, including disability, autism and trauma, your chaplains also had the opportunity to upskill in the areas of cross-cultural engagement and promoting holistic wellbeing for First Australians.

Looking ahead, it’s an exciting time for school chaplaincy as we enter into the new three-year contract period. Please also note that the e-safety commissioner’s cyber-bullying training package is now available.

This was mentioned to all chaplains at staff conference, so they are aware of this. But please encourage your chaplains to complete that training as soon as possible so they can continue to proactively meet the social, emotional and spiritual needs of students and families in your community.

Thank you once again for all the work you do behind the scenes to make your chaplaincy service strong.

Peter James.
